Divorce Post-Decree

Mediation can be helpful after a divorce has been filed or when changing circumstances call for modifications to the original agreement. The unbiased expertise of a trained mediator can assist in post-decree problem solving.

Parenting plans, property division and support issues frequently require post-decree problem solving. Post-decree mediation is a voluntary process which provides a safe, private setting in which parties may resolve issues, assisted by a skilled neutral professional.

Mediation is also a way for separated or divorced parents to work together to focus on their children's needs. Child psychologists advise that children can live through their parents’ divorce and remain emotionally strong and healthy so long as they are not caught in the middle of high conflict parents.

The Center for Resolution of Disputes is dedicated to helping parents design practical parenting plans both before and after divorce. Parents can help their children by jointly developing a parenting plan through mediation. With greater control over the outcome, plus improved communication and cooperation, parents in mediation usually reach agreements that are more mutually satisfying and long lasting. A "win-win" solution benefits everyone, especially the children.
